• The Midwest sees a drastic increase in COVID-19 cases due to the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally, school and university reopenings, and Labor Day weekend celebrations.
• Global COVID-19 deaths surpass 1 million, which is more than the deaths caused by HIV, dysentery, malaria, influenza, cholera, and measles combined in 2020.
• In order to assist K-12 schools in reopening, the HHS announces a plan to distribute 100 million rapid tests to states by the end of 2020.

China releases a new TV show called "With You", consisting of 20 total episodes broken down into 10 units. It is adapted from the real story of China during the few months that they fought against the COVID-19 pandemic. Each unit consists of famous Chinese actors and actresses who volunteered in producing the show, as a celebration of their efforts and gratitude towards their healthcare workers.
